来 源： 为毛莨科植物黄连Coptis chinensis Franch.、三角叶黄连Coptis deltoidea C. Y. Cheng et Hsiao 或云连Coptis teeta Wall. 的干燥根茎。以上三种分别习称“味连”、“雅连”、“云连”。

植物特征： 毛莨科黄连Coptis chinensis Franch.多年生草本。叶基徨，坚纸质，卵状三角形，三全裂，中央裂片卵状菱形，羽状深裂，边缘有锐锯齿，侧生裂片不等2深裂；叶柄长5～12cm。聚伞花序顶生；萼片5，黄绿色；花瓣倒披针形，长约为萼片的1/2，中央有蜜槽；雄蕊多数。果具细柄。花期2～4月，果期3～6月。野生或栽培于海拔1000～1900m的山谷凉湿荫蔽密林中。

植物资源分布：黄连为多年生草本，喜冷凉、湿润、荫蔽的环境和有机质含量高的微酸性土壤。野生于海拔 1000 ～ 1900 米的山谷密林中。种子繁殖 , 生长 6 年以上收获。味连主产于四川涪陵地区石柱和湖北恩施地区利川县；三角叶黄连 ( 雅连 ) 栽培于四川峨眉、洪雅、乐山、雷波等县；云连分布于云崐南省怒江州及腾冲县，维西、云龙、剑川等县有少量栽培。

生药材鉴定： 味连 多集聚成簇，常弯曲，形如鸡爪，单枝根茎长3～6cm，直径0.3～0.8cm。表面灰黄色或黄褐色，粗糙，有不规则结节状隆起、须根及须根残基，有的节间表面平滑如茎杆，习称“过桥”。上部多残留褐色鳞叶，顶端常留有残余的茎或叶柄。质硬，断面不整齐，皮部橙红色或暗棕色，木部鲜黄色或检黄色，呈放射状排列，髓部有时中空。气微，味极苦。 雅连 多为单枝，略呈圆柱形，微弯曲，长4～8cm，直径0.5～1cm。“过桥”较长。顶端有少许残茎。 云连 弯曲呈钩状，多为单枝，较细小。

Pharmacology

化学成分: 含小檗碱（berberine）、黄连碱（coptisine）、巴马亭（palmatine）、药根碱（jatrorrhizine）、木兰碱（magnoflorine）等。
