BOTANICAL:

中药材基原: 豆科植物皂荚Gleditsia sinensis Lam. 的干燥棘刺。

植物形态: 落叶乔木，棘刺圆柱形，常分支。羽状复叶簇生，小叶6~16，卵形至长卵形，长3~8CM，宽1~2CM，先端尖，基部楔形，边缘有细齿，总状花序腋生及顶生，花杂性；花萼4裂；花瓣4，淡黄色；雄蕊6~8；子房沿缝线有毛。荚果扁长条状，长12~35CM，宽2~4CM， 紫棕色，有时被白色蜡粉。花期5月，果期10月。

生药材鉴定：皂角刺係豆科植物皂角(Gleditsia sinensis Lam)的干燥棘刺。完整棘刺呈園锥形，有主刺及1～2分枝刺。主刺長3～15cm，或更長，直径0.3～1.2cm，分枝刺長1～6cm，螺旋形排列与主刺成60～80°夹角，由下向上逐漸细小，刺尖锐利。表面紫棕色或棕褐色。尖部多显深红色，有细纵纹。體輕质 堅硬，不易折斷，斷面或切斷面木部黄白色，髓部疏松，淡红棕色。無臭，味淡。

Safety

用药忌宜：内服劑量不宜過大，恐引起嘔吐、腹瀉 。 本品辛散走竄之性极强， 宜用于 頑痰 實 証 體壯者。孕婦、 氣虚 、 陰 虚 及咳嗽有血者忌用。
